报告人:Jeffrey Ross-Ibarra 教授

报告时间:4月28日(星期一)上午 9:30-11:30

报告地点:农学院216报告厅

个人简介:

Jeffrey Ross-Ibarra is a professor in the Department of Evolution and Ecology at the University of California, Davis in the United States. His research focuses on the evolutionary processes that shape genetic variation within plant populations, particularly maize and its wild relatives.

Prof. Dr. Ross-Ibarra has made significant contributions to the field, including uncovering key genetic mechanisms that drive evolution and diversity in plant populations. By studying how natural selection and genetic drift influence genetic diversity, he aims to uncover the mechanisms driving adaptation and speciation. His work combines field studies, laboratory experiments, and computational modeling to investigate how environmental factors and historical events impact plant evolution. This research not only enhances our understanding of evolutionary biology but also provides insights into agricultural practices and conservation efforts, helping to maintain and improve plant biodiversity in changing environments.

Prof. Dr. Ross-Ibarra has been awarded the prestigious National Academy of Science Prize in Food and Agriculture Sciences for 2024 in recognition of his pioneering studies on the evolutionary genetics of maize.
